Reviews / Rezensionen

LIED&CHOR (08/2003)
.... (Christiane Franke)

CLASSICSTODAY Höchstwertung: 10/10 (07/2003)
The Vocalensemble Rastatt, a group of 30 plus young singers that specializes in 19th and 20th century a cappella music – it’s hard to imagine a finer advocate for Rheinberger‘s work, nor is it possible to offer anything but praise for the quality of singing (lovely sopranos!), the attention to ensemble balance, and the careful shaping of phrases and expressive nuances. The sound is vibrant yet nicely detailed, creating an ideal sense of space while preserving the music’s essential intimacy. (David Vernier)

CRESCENDO (07/2003)
(Bernard Postiau)

AMERICAN RECORD GUIDE (2002/2003)
...first and foremost to be noted is the remarkable artistry of the Vocalensemble Rastatt and its young director, Holger Speck. The sound of this mixed choir is aking to pure gold. The Rastatt choral sonority has a translucent purity and clarity, impeccable intonation, perfect ensemble, a wide spectrum of lovely colours, and ravishing dynamic plasticity and control. The perfection of the high notes in the soprano, whether loud or muted, is astonishing. Only a very few times in my life have I heard such glorious choral work...

...the Vocalensemble Rastatt sings all of this with precision, superb blend, intonation, diction, and dynamic plasticity under the expert direction of Holger Speck, their founder and regular conductor....sound, production and notes are outstanding...exceptional recordings, not to be overlooked!
